Mandatory electronic billing for outpatient services

From September 2025, doctors and dentists must electronically bill sickness funds for outpatient services. This aims to reduce billing errors, simplify administration and speed up payments. Paper billing is only allowed in specific cases, that is, doctors aged 67+ as of 1 January 2023; dentists aged 63+ as of 1 January 2024; and occasionally, if billing occurs outside the office and electronic billing is technically impossible or in cases of force majeure preventing electronic billing.
